Filling my national parks passport – Part 1

On a high school trip to Gettysburg, I bought a Passport to Your National Parks stamp booklet as a memento to that visit.  I had a goal to fill it with stamps from visiting as many other national parks as possible over the years, too.  I didn’t get to do that, yet; also, that booklet has been packed away with other items from that time in my life.  Not long ago, I bought a new national parks booklet for under $10 so that I could continue on with a long-ago goal.

I’ve been to a few places, local and not so close by, at which I missed getting stamps to fill my first booklet and did not yet own a new one.  However, I only have to take another trip into Philly to begin collecting some national park stamps.  While in the city, I have to stop at the Edgar Allan Poe National Historic Site for the first time.  Somehow, I’ve never been on the street along which the classic horror writer’s house stands.

Next, a day out at Valley Forge and with the Civil War 150th anniversary events going on in Gettysburg, I’m hoping to go back there soon as well.

So that’s a start in what I’d like to call my national parks passport journey; there are a great number of parks still on my must-see list!  Working on my old goal of visiting them will give me extra travel content to share, with many photos and hopefully even videos (for my YouTube channel) along the way.

Check out more of my Flickr photos of previous trips to Philly, as well as Valley Forge and Gettysburg.

I don’t know yet when I’ll go to other national parks as a first-time visitor.  However, I’m looking forward to any opportunities as they come along and all the historic and natural sites there are to see.
